Full moon night in Manasarovar Lake on 27 July 2018 (Guru Purnima)

Mount Kailash, situated in the western part of Tibet, autonomous region of China is the popular pilgrimage destination for Hindus, Buddhist, Jains and Bonpo religion people. Hindus believe Mount Kailash to be the exclusive abode of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. For a Hindu, to make the strenuous pilgrimage to Kailash is to attain release from the clutches of ignorance & delusion of life. Thousands of devotees come to visit the sacred mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake every year from around the globe and neighboring country India following the route of Nepal.

Mount Kailash is also the source to the prominent rivers in Asia namely, The Brahmaputra, The Indus, The Ganges and The Sutlej. The diverse landscape, flora and fauna and peaceful environment invites people to explore this land with beautiful mountainous ranges.

Circumambulating this snow-capped rocky peak-Kailash Parbat is considered to be one of the important activities that should be done at least once in the life time. It is believed to be the best way to secure place in heaven after death. Mansarovar Lake: The Lake of consciousness as defined by Buddhists, Mansarovar is another important pilgrimage destination at Tibet. Holy Mt. Kailash lies just beside the most sacred Lake of Hindus Mansarovar Lake (4580m), which has held deep spiritual influence and wide religious among Hindu & Buddhists all over the world.

Circumambulating the Lake and taking a dip in it is believed to cleanse one’s soul from sins and the physical body from illness. Still there are others, who believe one can not only purge his soul but also secure his place in heaven after death escaping from the chain of this mortal life. This Lake is so gigantic that it takes three full days to just go round its peripheries. Despite of this, we can see the shore of this Lake crowded with devotees from across the globe. People perform Shraddha (Death ritual) of their deceased one with the hope of Liberation of their souls. Nearby Mansarovar Lake is the devil Lake which was believed to contain poisonous water that later on was purified by a golden fish from Lake Mansarovar. Hence it is believed that the water of Mansarovar is no less than Elixir. The travel company Monterosa Treks and Expedition organizes pleasing holy tour to mount Kailash and Mansovar every year. Oxygen is less at higher altitudes. The inclement weather and high altitude induces certain illness generally not encountered over the plains. Headache, nausea, lassitude, lethargy, breathlessness, general uneasiness [malaise], high irritability, light loss of balance, disorientation, incoherence and insomnia are a few. It is common to all irrespective of the age, sex and physical fitness. Gradual acclimatization is the best answer. Tranquilizers, sleeping dose and strong anti-biotic must be avoided. Some of symptoms indicate that the body mechanism is readjusting to new environments. The best idea is deliberately slow down all the activities and follows the following rules:

Chant a prayer or visualize everything around to suit your pleasant thoughts or put on the earphones and listen to your favorite music, Bhajans, Shiva Mantra chanting etc.
