Full moon night in Mansarovar Lake 28 June 2018 (Purnima)

Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake is a popular pilgrimage destination for Hindus, Buddhists, Jains and Bonpos. They are situated in the roof of the world that is China’s Autonomous region of Tibet. Most Hindus believe Mount Kailash is the home of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Accomplishing the pilgrimage to this place is believed as a way to purge one’s soul form all known or unknown sins. Even more, it is believed that one can attain ultimate salvation by having a divine view to these reverential sanctums.

The founder of four different religions, The Hinduism, The Buddhism, The Jainism, and The Bonpo is also believed to have mediated and resided here once. Because of this reason also the devotees from across the globe aspire to visit this epitome of beauty and sacred land at least once in their lifetime. Mount Kailash is also the mother principle to the four holy rivers of Asia namely, The Brahmaputra, The Indus, The Ganges and The Sutlej.

Despite of several hurdles to face during the journey such as, the high altitude sickness, extreme temperature, wildest roads, the snow capped rocky peak, Kailash Parvat (6714m) attracts the pilgrims and they worship it as the precise “Center of the Universe”. Moreover, the artistic monasteries, prayer halls of chanting monks and remote Cliffside heal every suffering of the devotees during Kailash Circumambulation (Korra).

Mansarovar Lake: The uniquely spiritual Lake, Manasarovar is situated at an altitude of 4580 m above sea level. It is another important pilgrimage destination situated in between Mount Kailash and Mt. Gurla Mandata. In Sanskrit Language, the meaning of this Lake is Consciousness of mind. Hindus believe Mansarovar as a bathing pond of Lord Shiva and Parvati whereas Buddhists believe that Lord Buddha meditated nearby this lake for long time and obtained wisdom about reality of life. And, we worship Lord Buddha as a god of Enlightenment. According to the legends, one to three rotations of the lake can relinquish our sins of 100 births. Also, we can get “Moksha”, liberation from the chain of this mortal life securing place in heaven after death. That is why it is said that one has to reach the vicinity of the Kailash Parvat and Manasarovar Lake at least once in their life time. Devotees drink the water of this Lake and take holy deep into its sacred water believing that it keeps them away from any kind of diseases and pain making them youthful and energetic forever. Tibet is a place that will likely change the way you see the world and to be there Nepal’s route is the easiest one.
