Every living creature is acquainted with different phenomenon of showing their devotion to the omnificent, omnipotent and omnipresent Power, that is God. Likewise different religion people conceived Mount Kailash and Manasarovar Lake, situated in the China's autonomous region of Tibet differently. All in all they regard it as the place with highest degree of religious and spiritual significance. For Hindus, Mount Kailash is a dwelling of Hindu God, Lord Shiva and his wife Parvati; For Buddhist, it is a place where Sakyamuni (Lord Buddha) meditated and obtain enlightenment; For Jains it is a place where their First saint got liberation. Hence, Tibet has become one of the sacred pilgrimage destinations in the world.
The source of prominent rivers in Asia namely, The Brahmaputra, The Indus, The Sutlej and The Ganges, Kailash Parvat (6714m) is also known as "SumeruParvat" or "MeruPavat" in Hindu Holy Book whereas Jains call it as 'Asthapada' and The Tibetan call it as 'Kang Rimpoche'.
The holy circumambulation of the 53 km periphery of Mount Kailash begins from 'Yamadwar' called Gate of Heaven. It is believed that completing this arduous Pilgrimage one can get rid of all sins committed knowingly or unknowingly ever in their life time obtaining Salvation. The pilgrims who cannot continue their journey due to high altitude sickness, extreme temperature, physical inabilities or any other reasons usually rotate the 'Yamadwar' and return back with the feelings that they completed the whole pilgrimage. The holy trip to kailash range offers the views of fabulous monasteries, exotic view of the world's highest peaks and the diversity of Flora and Fauna, artistic houses, temples and architectures. That's why every year thousands of devotees carve their journey to Mount Kailash and Manasarovar Lake from across the world via Nepal.
Manasarovar Lake is situated in between Mount Kailash and Mount GurlaMandata, the MansarovarLake (4580m) is another significant pilgrimage destination at kailash region. The name of this lake is derived from Sanskrit words 'Manas' meaning mind or consciousness and "Sarovar" meaning Lake. According to ancient Hindu mythology, this lake was formed to show omnipotence of Brahma, the god of creator. Similarly, the holy lake Manasarovar, the mother principle represents Buddhist transcendent cognizance. It is a glorious personification of human consciousness and enlightenment. Buddhists believe that Lord Buddha obtained enlightenment meditating nearby this lake. Taking Holy Bath in its cold water with right intention and peaceful mind and drinking its sacred water is another holy thing to do at this lake. Devotees worship and circumambulate one to three times around this relatively circled, large lake with the belief of purifying both physical body and soul obtaining peace from within and rest of the world. It takes three full days to round its peripheries for locals while other pilgrims may take 5-7 days for the same. Spiritual walk around the Kailash and Mansarovar (Kailash Kora or Kailash Parikrama) on foot is believed to be a holy ritual that will bring good fortune rest of the life and to the family as well.
