Mount Kailash is a dream destination for Hindu devotees. It is one of the important pilgrimage sites located in China's autonomous region of Tibet. Kailash Tour is accomplished via the route of Nepal after having a divine view of Holy Pashupatinath Temple. Then we move to Kailash Parvat where the Chhu Monastery nearby holy Manasarovar Lake is the first place where we reach in a full moon day and stay a night. Bathing in the sacred water of Manasarovar is the first work we do next day after waking up early in the morning in the next day.
Then religious rituals are performed in the camp with priest (Pujari) We take our day meal and proceed towards Darchen which is the last but extremely beautiful city situated at the bottom of Mount Kailash while being on Kailash tour from where the ultimate Kailash circumambulation of 53 kilo meters begins. One need to trek 38 kilo meters of the total circuit and other remaining route can be travelled by bus, jeep or van. But our journey is only up to Dirapuk where we spend our night.
Next day early in the morning we begin to proceed to the bottom of Mount Kailash. We can have the divine pleasure as of touching the feet of Lord Shiva while touching the bottom part of Mount Kailash as Kailash Parvat itself is regarded as the form of Lord Shiva. It takes two hours of trek from Dirapuk to expand our journey up to the West-North bottom of Mount Kailash. Pilgrims perform rituals worshipping on the divine feet of Lord Shiva by bowing their head down on the feet of Lord Shiva with huge devotion and offering pure milk which is an age long religious trend at his place. According to Hindu religious belief, Shiva's long Hair called Jattas form River Ganges and the water that flows from the snowy tip of Kailash Parvat have been described as river Ganges by different religious beliefs.
We can see the Ganges like river flowing from the West-North side bottom of Mount Kailash where the milk which is offered at the bottom of Mount Kailash gets mixed. People believe that crossing this river is committing sins so Kailash circumambulation finally ends here. After completing the entire religious rituals with right intention of mind people usually return to Darchen from here. Yam Dwar (Gate of Heaven) is also inspected during the Kailash tour. This tour does not include a complete Kailash circumambulation. Our trip will be only up to Dirapuk from Kathmandu and we will directly return back from there.
